Rocket League Rules

The rules below will apply to the majority of Rocket League competitions offered by Esports Live, any exceptions to these rules will be advised to all teams that participate in specific competitions.

1.Esports Live Player Levels Definitions

  • Juniors - all players aged 16 and below (born in or after 2004)

  • Amateur - inexperienced, playing for fun

  • World Class - experienced player, competitive, can boss the midfield

    Please note that not all levels will be offered for all competitions.

2. Competition Formats

2.1. Community Tournaments

  • Primarily tournaments will be 2v2 however specific tournaments may offer other formats.

  • The competition will be divided into multiple categories, according to teams skill level. Teams are required to register to their appropriate category level.

  • A player can only be registered into one team and teams can only be registered for one category per tournament unless given written approval by Esports Live.

  • The game is cross platform so is open to teams on PC or any consoles.

  • A minimum of 5 teams are required for a category to run (this is subject to change by the tournament administrator)

  • The competition format will be announced prior to commencement of each competition. Some competitions will have finals matches while others may be decided on ladder position.

  • Final placing of teams after pool games is decided by applying the following:

    • Most points

    • Best Goal Difference

    • Most Goals For

    • Least Goals Against

    • Head to head result

  • If all of the above is equal, then the following will occur:

    • A penalty shoot-out will be used to decide placings.

2.2. Cups

  • Teams will be randomly drawn to play against each other - no seeding offered. Generally knockout format.

  • Teams can only register for one place in the selected cup

3. Fixtures

  • Esports Live will publish the fixtures and also the list of games for all events on our website

  • Each team contact will be sent an email to access their individual portal with a list of their games and opponents

  • Team contacts need to communicate with each-other using their Player Online ID to arrange a mutuals suitable time to play the game. Please note that this is the responsibility of both team contacts.

  • The “home team” will be responsible for updating the portal with the mutually agreed game date and time

  • The “home team” will be responsible for updating the portal with the game result and upload a screenshot showing the end-result using the “UPLOAD REPORT” button

  • Matches need to be played by the deadline outlined in the email sent at the commencement of the competition. Any games that do not have results entered will be set to 0-0 draws, unless:

    • The failure to complete the match is not the fault of one team in which case a forfeit will be entered for the other team; or

    • The failure to complete the match is not the fault of either team, in which case, Esports Live may provide an extension of time in order to complete the match. Results for the matches not completed by the agreed time will be determined by Esports Live.

    • If a finals match has not been played by the deadline:

      • If it is determined that one team is at fault a forfeit will be awareded to the non-offending team and the team will progress to the next round.

      • If it is determined that neither team is at fault an extension may be granted by Esports Live. If the match is still not played by the agreed time then neither team will progress to the next round and the would-be opponant in the next round will be awarded a win by forfeit.

4. Match details

The home team contact is required to set up the match as follows:

4.1 Community Tournaments

  • Game mode: Private Match

  • Arena: Any

  • Team Size: 2v2

  • Bot Difficulty: No Bots

  • Region: Oceania

  • Joinable By:

  • Under Mutation Settings ensure the match length is 5 minutes.

    In the event of a draw (Group Games): End in draw

    In the event of a draw (Knock-out Stage): Golden Goal

    The result of any games that are not played under the conditions above will be deemed ineligible

5. Prizes

Prizes will be awarded in all categories and will be listed on the registration form for each competition.

Prizes may include:

  • Gift Cards

  • Cash

  • In-game currency credits

  • Sponsor prizes

Where there are multiple categories for a console, higher value prizes are generally awarded in the highest level competitions.
